Meet Buster Brown
ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Hi, I’m Buster Brown, a young, energetic guy with lots of enthusiasm for life! I’m friendly, excitable, and full of zoomies. When I get excited, my front feet do the cutest little “tippy taps,” and I’m always ready to run and play. I can be jumpy (more jumpy than mouthy), especially when treats are involved, but it’s all happy energy — never aggressive.
I love snacks (I’m a total food hound!) and enjoy interactive play, especially tug. When I play, I sometimes use my paws like a little boxer, bouncing around and engaging with you in a fun, goofy way. I’m still learning how to settle myself when I’m excited, so I’ll benefit from structure and continued training to help me channel my energy in positive ways.
HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
I walked calmly past other dogs in my kennel line and approached a stuffed dog with loose, relaxed body language. I didn’t show any concerning behaviors.
HOW AM I WITH CATS:
Unknown.
HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
Unknown. Because I’m jumpy and easily excited, supervision and continued training would be important.
I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
I know sit, but I’m still working on impulse control and have a hard time maintaining it when I’m excited — especially if treats are involved! With consistency and positive reinforcement, I have great potential to learn quickly.
MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:
I did not mark indoors but did have a potty accident near the door (the yard was icy at the time). I’m very wiggly when being leashed and am a bit of a door dasher, so secure doors and mindful handling are important. On leash, I may pull and zig-zag due to excitement, but it’s manageable. A harness and continued leash training would help me succeed.
THINGS I LIKE:
Treats (real treats — I’m picky about kibble!), zoomies, running, tug-of-war, soft toys, interactive play, and engaging with my people.
THINGS I DISLIKE:
Being asked to stay calm when I’m feeling playful — I tend to get overstimulated and bounce around instead of settling for pets right now. Loud excitement can amp me up quickly, so I’ll benefit from guidance and structure.
