Our No-Kill Animal Shelter Facility in Loudoun County
Welcome to Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA), a premier no-kill animal shelter located on 40 pastoral acres in Aldie, VA. Since our founding, our no-kill animal shelter has provided safe sanctuary, medical care, and play areas for rescued dogs and cats while they await their forever homes.
Whether you are looking to adopt a pet or learn more about animal welfare initiatives in Loudoun County, our sanctuary is designed to offer the highest quality of care for every animal in our shelter.
What Our Facility Includes
- Welcome Center: Meeting space, recreation space, and staff offices. The large, grassy front lawn gives volunteers a relaxing space to snuggle with dogs who prefer quiet time over long walks.
- Adoption Office: Features our main adoption area, a gift shop with FOHA-branded merchandise, and an indoor meet-and-greet area for dogs.
- Dog Kennels: 3 climate-controlled kennel buildings housing over 60 dogs. Includes single and double-occupancy setups with indoor/outdoor access, bedding, and toys.
- Dog Villages:
- Fred Sanders Memorial Village: Dedicated to long-term and senior dogs. Features individual HVAC-equipped houses and oversized private runs with artificial turf.
- Josh's Footprint: Opened in 2021 to help ease shelter stress and support dogs needing extra care. Powered entirely by solar energy with individual climate-controlled houses and runs.
- Catteries: 2 unique communal catteries (including one for FIV-positive cats) with free-roam play spaces, toys, and screened-in porches for sunbathing.
- Dog Play Areas: 3 enclosed off-leash exercise yards featuring summer pools where potential adopters can interact directly with play-loving dogs.
- Walking Trails: Several miles of wooded, groomed walking trails designed for daily dog exercise and interactive adopter walks.
