Some love stories are written in the stars, and some are written in paw prints. Blazer and Bozer’s journey to their forever home is a little bit of both.
Blazer (formerly Walt Whitman) started his story in Florida, living in an outdoor colony where a kind man fed and cared for the neighborhood cats. Blazer quickly won him over with his gentle charm, and soon the two were inseparable. When his caregiver moved to Northern Virginia, Blazer came too, but through no fault of his own, he didn’t mesh with the resident cats. Wanting the best for him, his caregiver turned to FOHA, and Blazer began the next chapter of his life with us.
Bozer (formerly Marshmallow) arrived at FOHA from a partner rescue. Quiet, shy, and unsure of the world, he tended to stay tucked away… until he met Blazer. From the moment these two boys found each other, everything changed. They curled up together, explored together, and slowly, gently, bravely, they began to trust again, because they had each other.
As fate would have it, a wonderful volunteer family watched their bond grow week after week during their visits. The more they got to know the boys, the clearer it became: Blazer and Bozer belonged together… and they belonged with them.
The family shared this update with us:
**“We just wanted to share how much we absolutely love our two FOHA cats, Bozer (Marshmallow) and Blazer (Walt Whitman)! They’re attached at the hip and do everything together.
Both were pretty shy when they first came home, but with lots of patience, love, and trust, they’ve really come out of their shells. Watching their personalities blossom (and their friendship grow) has been such a joy!
They’ve also formed the sweetest bond with our kids — no matter how early the cats decide it’s time to wake up, the kids always start the day smiling. They are also the first family members the kids seek out when they come home from school!
And of course, the cats have officially trained us… we can’t walk by the food bowls without handing out a few extra kibbles.

Today, Blazer and Bozer are living the life every cat deserves — adored, understood, and home at last. We’re so grateful to their adopter family for seeing the magic in them, honoring their bond, and giving them the loving home they needed.
