Meet Steffie
ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Steffie is a beautiful Husky mix with striking bi colored eyes and a gentle, affectionate personality. Though she is a senior, she still enjoys staying active with walks, hikes, and playing fetch, especially with squeaky toys. She is housebroken, food motivated, and enjoys training and interactive play with her people. Steffie is social with humans and warms up quickly once she feels safe, becoming a loyal and loving companion. She does best as the only dog or with a calm, friendly female dog. She enjoys being near her people, whether playing or relaxing, and thrives in a home that offers companionship, structure, and consistency.
I’m so excited to meet my potential new family! To make sure we have the best first impression, I’d feel most comfortable meeting new people with one of my friends (a FOHA staff or volunteer) by my side. The best way to set up a successful meet-and-greet is by submitting an application first. Thanks for considering me!
I’m also eligible for FOHA’s Foster Forward Program, which helps long-stay animals like me experience home life and increases my chances of adoption.
HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
I have some dog friends that I get along with and some that I’d like distance from! I’m a true “girl’s girl” and I do best with friendly female dogs. I have lived successfully with another dog in foster care in the past. Success with any dog will depend on a dog intro with me and my friends at FOHA!
HOW AM I WITH CATS:
Unknown.
HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
Unknown; older children 10 and up preferred/recommended.
I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
I have done 3 sessions of professional training. I know sit, down, paw, and come.
This dog is part of FOHA’s Diamond Dog Program, which means they receive extra training support and guidance to help them succeed in a home. To learn more about the Diamond Dog Program, click here and scroll down!
MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:
Housebroken. I have some crate training experience but it’s been a while! I will need a family willing to continue working on this with me.
THINGS I LIKE:
Fetch, affection, food/treats, toys, and hiking. I do well in car rides but if you have food, I’ll want to sit in the front with you :3
THINGS I STRUGGLE WITH:
Loud noises, busy, city-like settings, and unknown people @ first (especially men although I will warm up with patience).
