Cheyenne is a 7 month old hound/shepherd mix pup from Wise County Virginia in the spike of Virginia bordering Kentucky and close to Tennessee.  With that history, her FOHA veterinarian indicated that some coon hound was a high likelihood, and, when you see her mask, you will agree.  She is a beautiful dog; her pictures do not do her justice.  She is smart, trainable, sweet, and funny.  Her two favorite things are children and other dogs, so she would be happy in a family with either or both.  She has a bit of an issue with men.  She warms up quickly, though, to men after a first, gentile meeting.  It is difficult to know what her life was like before, but she didn’t seem to understand walks or leashes but learned very quickly.  She is fearful of normal outside things like cars and bicycles so I assume she didn’t have much exposure to the world.  She is very resilient and after her first week in a foster home with dogs, she is becoming more secure, she is eating well, and she is having a blast playing with all the doggies in the house and family.  Her energy level could be an issue with a busy family.  Lots of walks, play dates, and exercise are critical for her to be the family pup she is destined to be.  Jogging could be a good outlet for her as well.  With the correct amount of exercise, she is a manageable, playful, happy pup who you will love and cherish.

This dog can only be adopted within the Washington D.C. metro area.
