Meet Oatmilk
ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Hi, I’m Oatmilk — sweet, soft, and just a little bit sensitive (just like my name suggests!). I’m a gentle, treat-loving guy who’s still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. Sudden movements and loud noises make me a little nervous, so I’d love a home where things are calm, patient, and steady.
Once I feel comfortable, I start to blossom — on the trails, I light up! I’ll bounce along happily, nose to the ground, following every interesting scent (although sometimes I can be very committed to the path I choose!). I may plant my feet or go into full stubborn toddler mode, but if you jog with me, I’m all in. I walk even better with a friendly dog friend!
I’m still working on building confidence, but if you give me time, I’ll be your loyal little lovebug — I’ve even been known to paw gently for more pets.
HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
Good! I came in with notes and videos showing me happily playing with other pups. I walk much better on my leash if I have a friend with me.
HOW AM I WITH CATS:
Please no cats! I was attacked by a stray and I took that personally.
HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
No children for me please.
I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
Sit (when I feel brave enough!). Leave it, ‘Yes’, Down
This dog is part of FOHA’s Diamond Dog Program, which means they receive extra training support and guidance to help them succeed in a home. To learn more about the Diamond Dog Program, click here and scroll down!
MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:
I am housebroken! I will tell you when I must go!
THINGS I LIKE:
Treats of any kind • Quiet affection • Exploring trails • Being allowed to go my own pace on my walks (I walk better with a partner) • Gentle pets on the chest. Balls and stuffed toys!
THINGS I DISLIKE:
Sudden movements • Loud noises • Being rushed (especially on walks!)
