Meet NOVA Parks

ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Hi, I’m Nova — a sensitive, playful girl who blossoms once she feels safe. Kennel environments are scary for me at first, and I can show fear by lowering my body, avoiding eye contact, or freezing. But once I’m given the chance to get out and explore, my true personality shines. Outside the kennel, I’m energetic, affectionate, and fun to have around, with zoomies, curiosity, and a big desire to engage with my people. I benefit from calm handling, gentle voices, and time to decompress — once I have that, I soften beautifully and settle in well.

HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
I’ve walked calmly past other dogs without reacting or pulling. I did not seek out interaction during assessments and showed neutral behavior when passing dogs, including a dog she previously lived with.

HOW AM I WITH CATS:
Unknown.

HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
Unknown.

I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
I know sit and paw, and I’m very close to mastering down. I enjoy learning, especially when treats are involved.

MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:
Not yet evaluated. I am hesitant coming out of my kennel and may need extra patience and reassurance in new or stressful environments.

THINGS I LIKE:
Treats, snuffle mats, gentle play with people, mild chase games, zoomies, exploring new spaces, affection once I’ve had time to decompress, and relaxing on a comfy bed after activity.

THINGS I DISLIKE:
Loud or chaotic kennel environments, being rushed, and sudden pressure when I’m unsure. I need time and space to feel comfortable, especially indoors around barking dogs.
