🌟 Meet Merlot!

🐾 ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:

If you’re looking for a dog whose love language is cuddles and sniffing adventures, then I’m your guy! My name is Merlot, and I have a gentle, affectionate personality that makes me one of the best snugglers around. I’ll happily lean into you for pets and would be perfectly content spending an evening curled up by your side.

When it’s time for a walk, my hound instincts kick in! I absolutely love following scent trails and exploring the world through my nose. I walk nicely on leash with only a little pulling here and there as I investigate all the exciting smells around me. Every once in a while, a squirrel might catch my attention and earn one of my signature “big boy barks,” but I’m otherwise an easygoing walking companion.

I’m very food motivated and enjoy treats, though sometimes an interesting scent or tasty patch of grass catches my attention too! I also enjoy taking little breaks along our adventures to soak up some pets before we’re off exploring again.

If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who enjoys both cozy cuddle sessions and outdoor adventures, I just might be the perfect addition to your family.

🐕 HOW AM I WITH DOGS:

I have done well passing other dogs on walks and have been described as nonreactive. As always, if you have a dog at home, FOHA will schedule a dog introduction to help ensure we’re a great match.

🐱 HOW AM I WITH CATS:

Unknown — just ask my friends at FOHA to conduct a cat test.

👶 HOW AM I WITH KIDS:

Unknown — we recommend slow introductions to make sure everyone is comfortable.

I’m still getting to know my friends at FOHA and learning new things every day!

Cuddling, sniffy walks, treats, exploring new trails, squirrel watching, gentle pets, and spending time with my people.

Missing out on a good scent trail! I’m happiest when I have opportunities to explore and use my nose.

Spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, distemper & Bordetella), 1-month access to Petcademy for training and behavior support, slip lead leash, 1 bag starter food, 1 month flea/tick & heartworm preventatives, diagnostic testing, and additional medical procedures as recommended by our vet.
