Meet Loofah
🌟 Meet Loofah!
🐾 ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Loofah is a gentle, sensitive girl who wants so badly to be brave—and every day, she’s getting a little closer. New people, unfamiliar sounds, and unexpected situations can feel overwhelming to her at first, so she needs a patient person who will give her the freedom to observe, process, and decide when she’s ready to take that next step.
And then another dog walks into the room, and something magical happens.
Loofah absolutely LOVES other dogs. Her whole demeanor changes when she sees a canine friend. She perks up, wags her tail, and suddenly the world doesn’t seem quite so intimidating. She watches other dogs closely and takes her cues from them—if they trust the humans, maybe she can too! In playgroup, Loofah comes alive. She loves running and playing, takes appropriate breaks, and happily switches between being the chaser and the one being chased.
Loofah is making wonderful progress with people, too. With gentle voices and no pressure, her curiosity eventually wins out. She’s explored the adoption office, approached people on her own, and even climbed into the lap of someone she trusts. She enjoys slow, sniffy walks where she can investigate everything around her and take her time deciding where to go next. When something startles her, she may need a few minutes to recover, but with reassurance, she’s learning that scary moments pass.
This sweet girl isn’t looking for someone to push her into being brave. She’s looking for someone who will give her the time and security she needs to discover her own courage. A confident dog friend could be an incredible gift for Loofah and help her adjust more quickly, but we believe she could also succeed as a single dog with a particularly patient family willing to give her extra time. Watching Loofah learn to trust is something special, and the person who earns her heart will know just how meaningful that bond truly is.
🐕 HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
I LOVE other dogs! I gain tremendous confidence from having canine friends around and enjoy running and playing with them. I’m a thoughtful playmate who takes breaks and switches comfortably between chasing and being chased. A confident dog in my new home could be a wonderful role model and help me adjust to my new life.
🐱 HOW AM I WITH CATS:
Unknown — just ask my friends at FOHA to conduct a cat test.
👶 HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
Because I’m sensitive to sudden movements and noises, I’d likely be most comfortable with calm, respectful children who can give me space and allow me to approach at my own pace.
🎓 I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
I’m still learning! Right now, my biggest accomplishment is becoming braver and learning to trust the people around me.
🏠 MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:
I’m housebroken and have been keeping my kennel wonderfully clean!
💖 THINGS I LIKE:
Other dogs, other dogs, and did I mention other dogs? I also enjoy slow sniffy walks, exploring at my own pace, quiet spaces, gentle encouragement, playing with canine friends, and affection from people I trust.
⚠️ THINGS I DISLIKE:
Loud or unexpected noises, being rushed, and too much pressure before I’m ready can make me nervous. I need a little time to process new situations, and I do best when I’m allowed to set the pace. Once I feel safe—especially with a dog friend nearby—you’ll start seeing the sweet, playful girl who’s been there all along.
