Meet JG Wentworth

🐾 ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:

Hi, I’m JG Wentworth! I recently arrived at FOHA and am still getting used to all the new sights, sounds, and people. At first, I tend to keep my distance and take time to observe what’s happening around me. Once I start to feel more comfortable, I will approach on my own to sniff a hand and accept gentle chin scratches before taking a little break.

My friends noticed that I became much more confident when another calm, friendly dog joined me during my assessment. Watching her interact with people helped me understand that new humans weren’t so scary. After that, I started choosing to come closer and check in more often. I’m still building trust with handling and touch, but I’ve already made a lot of progress.

I’m one of those dogs who does best when I’m allowed to move at my own pace. With patience, encouragement, and positive experiences, I’m likely to continue gaining confidence and showing more of my personality.

If you’re someone who enjoys helping a dog grow and celebrating small victories, I might be the perfect match for you.

🐶 HOW AM I WITH DOGS:

I would likely benefit from living with a confident, friendly dog who can help show me that new environments and people are safe. I seem to open up more and explore when another dog is nearby.

🐱 HOW AM I WITH CATS:

Unknown – just ask my friends at FOHA to do a cat test and we can see how I do.

👧 HOW AM I WITH KIDS:

Unknown – because I can be avoidant in new situations, slow and respectful introductions will be important.

🎓 I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:

Still learning! I am very new to leash skills and basic training.

🏡 MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:

Unsure at this time. My future family should be ready to help me learn routines and build confidence.

❤️ THINGS I LIKE:

Watching other dogs
Gentle chin scratches
Taking treats
Quiet time to observe

🚫 THINGS I DISLIKE:

Feeling pressured on leash
Being rushed into handling
Too much too soon
