🐾 MEET JERRY
Gentle husky mix looking for love, safety — and a home with his sister Janis

ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Hi, I’m Jerry — a soft, sweet husky mix with a quiet spirit and big brown eyes that reflect my hope for a brighter future. I didn’t have a lot of early exposure to people, so I can be fearful at first, but once I feel safe, I begin to show my playful and loving side.

I’m still very young and full of potential. With the help of a confident dog companion and a patient, understanding human, I know I’ll continue to blossom. Once I’m warmed up to you, I’ll come in close for pets and love! I’m pretty good with other dogs but I’m especially close with my sister Janis — we’re bonded and need to be adopted together. She brings me comfort and courage, and we love to play and relax side-by-side.

I’m crate trained and learning housebreaking (I even know how to use a dog door!). I’m picking up on a few new commands here at FOHA like “come” and “inside”. I’m also working on my leash walking skills, now that I’m more confident around people. I’m especially motivated by tasty treats and soft encouragement. Just a heads up: I’m a little rambunctious and have a history of getting into soft toys, so tough toys only for me, please.

Because I can be shy, I’m not the best match for homes with children (although I’ve lived with a calm teenager before), but I’d do wonderfully in a calm, adult household with a fenced yard (true to my husky nature, I’m an escape artist!) and another confident dog.

I’m so excited to meet my potential new family! To make sure we have the best first impression, I’d feel most comfortable meeting new people with one of my friends (a FOHA staff or volunteer) by my side. The best way to set up a successful meet-and-greet is by submitting an application first. Thanks for considering me!

I’m also eligible for FOHA’s Foster Forward Program, which helps long-stay animals like me experience home life and increases my chances of adoption.

🐶 HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
I adore other dogs and love to play, especially with Janis! I do best with dogs who are kind and not too pushy. I can get a little protective of Janis, so slow introductions are best. Once comfortable, I’m joyful and goofy with my dog friends.

🐱 HOW AM I WITH CATS:
No cats, please — I’ve got a strong prey drive.

👶 HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
I’d do best in a home without children. Sudden movements and noise are overwhelming for me.

🧠MY TRAINING:
I respond to my name and I’m learning, sit and loose-leash walking!

This dog is part of FOHA’s Diamond Dog Program, which means they receive extra training support and guidance to help them succeed in a home. To learn more about the Diamond Dog Program, click here and scroll down!

🏠 MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:
Crate trained and sleeps soundly overnight. I’m still learning housebreaking and may have accidents while settling into a new routine. I know how to use a dog door and prefer familiar outdoor environments.

💖 THINGS I LOVE:
My sister Janis • Gentle dog friends • Water play • Quiet spaces • Treats

🚫 THINGS I STRUGGLE WITH:
Loud noises • Strangers • Soft/stuffed toys (I tend to destroy them!)
