Meet Happy

ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Hi there! I’m Happy — an outgoing, cheese-loving canine who adores playtime! When I’m hungry, nothing satisfies me more than a big hunk of cheese. I’m a social pup with other dogs and love to chase and play, but I’m not a big fan of wrestling — I prefer a healthy balance of chase and gentle play. I’m a bit of a social introvert with humans at first, but I warm up quickly once I get to know you. I’m affectionate and blossom with someone compassionate, patient, and understanding who can help me shine.

Sometimes I get a little jumpy and mouthy when I’m overstimulated, so it’s best to always have a squeaky or rope toy on hand to help me redirect that energy. I’m very sensitive and don’t like it when other dogs are mean to me; I’ll even come to you for help when I need a break. I love having another dog around for company, though I don’t mind being a single dog too. I can get anxious being alone or in a crate, so I’ll need a family willing to continue working on crate training and impulse control.

HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
Good with dogs — love to play chase more than wrestling. Takes corrections well but can be a bit annoying at times.

HOW AM I WITH CATS:
Unknown — currently in foster care with a cat but unsure if they’ve met. I might be too much for a cat.

HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
Good with kids over 10.

I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
Not listed — continuing training on impulse control.

MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:
House-trained. Needs continued work on crate training due to some anxiety.

THINGS I LIKE:
Cheese, toys (especially squeaky or rope toys), chasing games, gentle affection.

THINGS I DISLIKE:
Wrestling with other dogs, being alone, crate time without proper training, overstimulation.

MEDICAL NOTES:
I have chronic dry eye and will need medication likely for the rest of my life.
