Meet Doris

Hi!  Please read my profile closely because I am looking for a very special family and home.

Doris here.

In Greek, my name means “gift”.  I will be a special companion for people who get to know me.  In Greek mythology, my namesake was the daughter of the explorer Oceanus and the mother of the sea-nymph Nereids. Adventure is in my lineage.

I have traveled to Annapolis and Baltimore and many places in between.  I love being in the car and am ready to go explore at a moment’s notice! I love window shopping while walking city streets and am a bit of a foodie. But I can be a bit overly enthusiastic at mealtime.  However, volunteers have been teaching me patience and I have shown great improvement.   That said, I would be best suited in a home without small children and without cats.

They tell me that I am very smart, which is, well, true.  I understand house training. I just love treats and have learned many commands that I gladly trade for treats.  I also love stuffed toys and I never start a new adventure without a good supply to keep myself amused.

Since I have some unique needs, I am looking for a special family and will need time to adjust to my new home. Once the adoption application process is complete, I will begin as a Foster with Intent to Adopt. This will allow us 30 days to see if we are a good fit, before we make the adoption final.

To summarize, I am looking for a home with no children, no cats and with an experienced owner.
