Meet Bonnie
ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Before coming to FOHA, Bonnie spent most of her life homeless on the streets of Washington, D.C. with her former owner, whom she had been with since she was a puppy. A group of federal employees who worked near where the pair slept began caring for them. When Bonnie’s owner decided to surrender her to give her a chance at a better life, the employee group helped get her to FOHA.
Bonnie is smart, energetic, athletic, and very loyal. She enjoys toys of all kinds and has done well playing with other dogs. She learns quickly, especially when high-value treats are involved. She’s housebroken and has done well in the home environment without being crated. After so much sleeping on the hard ground, she really loves snuggling on beds and couches with her person. Bonnie can pull on leash and gets excited when she sees dogs, but she is improving with a new harness and patient guidance. She does have a high prey drive, so no cats or other small pets in the home. Bonnie warms up to new people with slow introductions and settles comfortably once she feels safe.
Bonnie would flourish in an active home with a family who will provide her with exercise, mental stimulation, and plenty of love. She’d love a fenced yard where she can run. Another confident dog companion would be a bonus. She loves an adventure and has enjoyed hiking and splashing around at Shenandoah National Park.
HOW AM I WITH CATS:
Sorry, no kitties for me!

Bonnie dislikes thunder (from living outside), fast or overwhelming introductions, and being rushed with new people.
