🌟 Meet Big Buford!

🐾 ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:

Big name. Big dog. Big sweetheart. 💙

Big Buford is a giant, gentle Husky who traveled all the way from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, to FOHA in search of the family he deserves. His journey began after his previous owners abandoned him in a house. With the help of concerned neighbors, Buford was rescued and given the chance to start over.

And despite everything that’s changed in his life, Buford has arrived at FOHA as one incredibly happy, affectionate, gentle guy.

His previous caregivers described him as well-behaved, super sweet, smart, and affectionate. He absolutely loves being petted and is perfectly content soaking up attention from his people. He’s also a fan of long walks—and when the day’s adventures are finished, Buford appreciates another important pleasure in life: his bed. 🛏️

Our first impressions at FOHA have been just as positive. Buford has been easy to get out of his kennel and easy to harness, and our team immediately noticed how happy and gentle he is. He’s already sitting for treats and seems eager to greet the other dogs he sees.

He’s a pretty impressive package: a big fluffy walking buddy, an enthusiastic treat student, a professional bed appreciator, and one seriously sweet dog.

🐕 HOW AM I WITH DOGS:

My previous caregivers report that I’ve done well with other dogs, and so far at FOHA I’ve seemed eager to say hello to the dogs I see.

My friends here will continue learning more about my individual play style and preferences as I settle in.

🐱 HOW AM I WITH CATS:

I’ve never been tested with cats, so we don’t know how I feel about them yet. Just ask my friends at FOHA about a cat test.

👶 HOW AM I WITH KIDS:

My previous caregivers report that I’ve done well with children and adults. My friends at FOHA can help determine whether I’ll be a good match for the children in your family.

🎓 I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:

I already know “sit” and will happily demonstrate for a treat! 🦴

I’ve also been described as a smart, fast learner, so there may be plenty more this big brain is ready to learn.

I’m comfortable being harnessed and have been easy to handle when heading out for my walks.

🏠 MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:

My previous caregivers report that I’m housebroken, and everything FOHA has seen so far supports that!

I’ve been keeping my kennel clean and reliably taking care of my business once I’m outside on my walks. ⭐

Big Buford has already experienced more upheaval than any dog should. He was left behind in a house, rescued with the help of neighbors, and eventually traveled across borders for another chance. Through it all, he somehow remained the happy, affectionate, gentle giant we’re getting to know today.

He’s housebroken, smart, knows how to sit, enjoys other dogs, loves people, walks nicely into his adventures—and understands the importance of having a really good bed waiting when he gets home.

Now this big, fluffy, gentle guy just needs one more thing:

A family who will make sure that when Big Buford walks through their front door, he never has to wonder whether he’s home again. 💙🏡

ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES:
Spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, distemper & Bordetella), 1-month access to Petcademy for training and behavior support, slip lead leash, 1 bag starter food, 1 month flea/tick & heartworm preventatives, diagnostic testing, and additional medical procedures as recommended by our vet.
