After hearing wonderful things about FOHA, my partner and I visited with the intent of finally adopting our own dog. We had fostered many over the years and we had our sights set on adopting a German Shepherd. During one of our visits, as we were preparing to complete an application we happened to cross paths with Lacey, a rottweiler out for a walk with one of the volunteers. As we said hello, Lacey immediately sat at my feet and refused to budge as we petted her. Despite still sporting her big plastic cone from her recent spaying, she really wanted to give us kisses.
It’s true what they say…dogs choose us! We immediately fell in love. We adopted this sweet rottweiler and named her Nala. We can’t imagine our lives without her. She is the light that shines constantly, she is a patient sibling to her cat brother and a most caring companion to us. She knows how to open the fridge and grab a beer for our guests and she will do anything for a slice of bacon.
