Bryce was found as a stray dog in Southern Virginia at the beginning of 2019. After he tested positive for heartworm, the shelter quickly reached out to FOHA knowing that we are one of the few organizations that is willing and able to take in dogs with heartworm. We found a foster who would be willing to help him through the 6 months of treatment. She reports “He quickly fit right into my home with my 4 cats and my other FOHA rescue – Roxie. As the weeks went by I realized that Bryce had become a member of the family and I put in my application to adopt him once his heartworm treatment was complete. I am so thankful to have made that decision because what I didn’t know was that I was going to have to say goodbye to my sweet Roxie just a few months later. She was nearing her 13th birthday and her liver went into failure. Bryce was there for me while I cried for Roxie and helped me through that tough time. He is a great ambassador for the FOHA and Leesburg Veterinary Heartworm Partnership. He is loved by all that meet him. He is a great foster brother and soon to be full brother to Paisley who will be adopted once her medical treatments are complete. Thank you to Patti for bringing Bryce into my life!”
