Meet Meowy
ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Hi, I’m Meowy — a gorgeous grey girl with a soft spirit and even softer fur. I recently arrived at FOHA with my lookalike friend Puffy (we’re so similar, she wore a pink collar just so we could tell each other apart!). While Puffy is already starting to lean into pets and show affection, I’m taking my time to get comfortable.
New environments can be a little overwhelming, but I’m slowly starting to explore and observe the people around me. I might be a bit more reserved at first, but I have a gentle heart and just need a patient, loving person to help me feel safe. With a calm home and a little encouragement, I know I’ll blossom into a wonderful companion.
If you believe in the power of quiet love and are willing to give me a chance to warm up at my own pace, I just might be your perfect match.
HOW AM I WITH OTHER CATS:
To be determined. If you have another cat in the home I will go home as foster with intent to adopt so you can see how things go!
HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
To be determined. If you have a dog in the home I will go home as foster with intent to adopt so you can see how things go!
HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
I’d do best in a calm home with older kids or adults who understand shy cats and will give me time and space to feel comfortable.
MY LITTER BOX HABITS:
Clean and consistent!
THINGS I LIKE:
Cozy hideouts, quiet company, soft-spoken humans, and observing the world from a safe perch.
THINGS I DISLIKE:
Sudden changes and loud environments — I’m a gentle soul who thrives with calm energy and patience.

Meowy's Medical Information
I have FIV, that's what I have but it is NOT who I AM! Please don't let that scare you away. I want you to know that FIV+ cats can and DO live long, healthy, and normal lives when given the chance. In fact, statistically, most FIV cats live as long as their indoor counterparts (13-18 years), and much longer than cats that live outdoors (3-8 years). There are many reported cases where FIV+ cats live well into old age without ever showing any symptoms. It's important to note that dogs, other pets, and humans are absolutely immune to FIV. The virus itself is astonishingly frail and can live outside of the body for only a few seconds. The virus is also extremely slow-acting, so it is unlikely to pose any threat to other cats in the household. I know that adopting an FIV+ cat may seem like a big responsibility, but I promise that I am worth it. I am a sweet and loving kitty who just wants a warm and safe place to call home. If you are willing to give me a chance, I promise to bring you years of joy and companionship. So please come and meet me, and see for yourself that FIV+ cats are just as wonderful and deserving of love as any other cat.
