Meet Dottie Minerva

ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Hi, I’m Dottie — I was found tied to a huge pile of rocks in an abandoned lot off a remote road, soaking wet in the rain. I’ve come a long way learning to trust humans again. I’m incredibly smart, super affectionate, and strong-willed. I love to play and walk well on a leash. I’m full of energy when I first get out but settle down after some playtime in the yard. I can be a little wiggly when getting my leash on, so a slip lead helps me calm down before harnessing. I adore children and am playful with dogs of all sizes. All I really need is lots of love — that’s what matters most to me!

HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
I’m good with dogs but can get overwhelmed if there are too many at once. I do best with one submissive dog at a time and need slow, careful introductions. I’m still being evaluated for playgroup approval.

HOW AM I WITH CATS:
Unknown – FOHA can cat-test me upon request.

HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
Good with kids, including those 10 and under. I absolutely adore children!

I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
I’m a treat hound and can be a bit pushy for treats, but I listen well when you say “off” or “no.” I’ve learned to respond to basic cues.

MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:
I use the doggie door confidently and can go in and out on my own.

THINGS I LIKE:
Toys, treats, neck scratches, cuddling, and running around in the play yard.

THINGS I DISLIKE:
Getting overwhelmed by lots of dogs at once, jumping on seniors (I get too excited), and counter surfing (I’m learning!).
