Moose

ABOUT THIS ANIMAL
Moose is the king of fetch. He chases the ball down, brings it straight back, drops it, and waits for the next throw. He is 11 years old and 64 pounds, with more stamina than most dogs half his age: he walks over a mile easily, and one volunteer had to call off a fetch session at 75 minutes. He is easy on leash and does not pull. He loves to swim.

HOW AM I WITH DOGS
He has lived with other dogs and plays well with the dogs here. On leash, he reacts to the dogs he passes, and he barks at dogs when they go by. He would do best as the only dog at home.

HOW AM I WITH CATS
Moose has been non-reactive to the cats he has come across at FOHA, walking past without much interest. He does chase squirrels and rabbits on walks and would do best in a home without cats.

HOW AM I WITH KIDS
He is looking for a home without young children. He does well with older teens and adults.

MY TRAINING
Moose knows sit, down, paw, spin, and touch (nose to hand), and he is learning stay. He sits the moment he is asked and works eagerly for treats. He is one of FOHA’s Diamond Dogs, so FOHA can provide training support before and after adoption.

THINGS I LIKE
Tennis balls, swimming, wading pools, long walks, and working for treats.

THINGS I STRUGGLE WITH
Moose is protective of his food and his high-value chews. He is protective of his people and barks at visitors, and thunderstorms frighten him.

He is eligible for FOHA’s Foster Forward Program, which helps long-stay animals like Moose experience home life and increases my chances of adoption.
