Meet Dove

Meet Dove

Dove is an adult cat with striking green eyes who is blooming beautifully in her foster home. While she is a shy girl who marches to the beat of her own drum, she has made wonderful strides in a home environment, proving that “slow and steady” truly wins her heart.

Her Happy Place

Since moving into her foster home, Dove has claimed a “full room” under the bed as her personal sanctuary, complete with a fuzzy carpet and a large, comfy bed. From this safe haven, she loves to observe the world. While she appreciates her space, she is increasingly comfortable popping out of her spot to advocate for some scratches when she’s feeling social.

Social Progress & Interaction

Dove is a gentle soul who thrives on 1:1 attention. She has been sleeping in her foster parent’s room every night, quietly building a bond through proximity and shared space. She is incredibly easy to read; she comes out when she’s ready and observes from her spot when she’s not.

  • The “Lovey Dovey” Connection: Dove has a special affinity for children! She has opened up significantly with her foster’s 11-year-old daughter (who affectionately calls her “Lovey Dovey”). Whether it’s the smaller hands or a calm kid-energy, Dove seems to truly love the company of children who understand her pace.

  • A Predictable Companion: She does best with soft voices and predictable movement. While sudden activity might send her back to her cozy “room,” she re-emerges quickly once things settle down.

Confidence & Motivation

Treats remain a strong motivator for her, especially crunchy Temptations. She uses treat time to build her confidence and has begun associating her humans with these positive, tasty interactions.

Ideal Home

Dove is looking for a patient adopter who understands that her shyness is just a part of her charm. She would thrive in a home that allows her to go at her own pace and provides her with a “safe spot” to call her own. Given her recent progress, she would likely do very well in a home with calm children. She remains relaxed around other cats and would likely do well as a single cat or with a steady, friendly feline companion after a thoughtful introduction.

Dove's Medical Information

I have FIV, but that’s just a small part of my story! FIV+ cats like me can live long, happy, and healthy lives, just like any other indoor kitty. Many of us live well into our teens without ever showing symptoms. FIV isn’t contagious to people or dogs, and it’s very hard to transmit to other cats, it typically only spreads through serious bite wounds, which aren’t common in peaceful indoor homes. So please don’t let those letters scare you. I’m sweet, loving, and ready to bring joy to your life, just like any other cat. 👉 Learn more about FIV and common myths 👉 Watch FOHA’s own Scooter talk about FIV+ cats
