Meet Belvedere
About this animal
Hi, I’m Belvedere! I am a soulful Beagle with a very sweet and gentle heart. Even though I haven’t had much experience living inside a home before, I absolutely adore people. When the world feels a little big or unfamiliar, my humans are my anchor of safety. Instead of getting defensive or worried, I simply lean in close to ask for a kind hand and some quiet comfort. I am looking for a soft landing where I can feel secure and be your most loyal, devoted companion.
How am I with dogs
I do best with calm, easygoing dog friends! I get excited and happy to meet other polite, gentle dogs. However, fast energy can be a bit too much for me right now—I tend to cower and feel overwhelmed around excitable or bouncy dogs, so I prefer canine companions who match my mellow vibe.
How am I with cats
I am surprisingly serene for a hound! I showed zero interest in chasing when I strolled right past some ducks, calmly giving them space and letting them go on with their day. I will still need a slow, proper introduction to resident indoor cats, but I have a wonderfully calm starting point.
How am I with kids
I am sweet and patient! Because I can be a bit shy in new settings, I will do best with kids who know how to be gentle and respect a dog’s personal space while I settle in.
My training
I am already a delightful walking partner on the leash and walk gently without pulling! I also consistently come when called — my recall is great because I love being near my people. I am taking things slow and decompressing first, so I am still working on learning my other core commands with positive reinforcement and patience.
My housebreaking and/or crating
Living inside a real home is completely new to me, so I am still learning the ropes of indoor life. I will need a patient family who can give me a predictable routine and positive reinforcement as I learn my potty cues.
Things I like
Leaning in for gentle head rubs, resting right next to my trusted humans, quiet sniff walks, coming when called, and curling up in cozy, peaceful spots where I feel safe.
Things I struggle with
Indoor spaces can feel overwhelming for me right now. Unfamiliar doorways, sudden noises, and slick hardwood or tile floors make me feel a little unsure and unsteady on my feet. Having runner rugs for traction and a calm, predictable environment will give me the space I need to decompress at my own pace.
