FOHA Receives Grant for Senior Cat Dental Health

Thanks to a generous $1,500 grant, FOHA’s older felines can now eat their favorite crunchy snacks with no worries. This funding comes directly from the Ursula Landsrath Animal Rescue Fund. Distributed by the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties, the grant will support FOHA’s essential senior cat dental health program.

Dental Care for Senior Cats: Meet Bette Boo

One of the sweet felines benefiting from this support is Bette Boo. Currently awaiting her forever home, Bette Boo is a soft, fluffy tabby cat with a huge heart. Previously, she slept curled up beside her human dad every night. Although she lost her beloved person when he passed away, this big-voiced girl remains hopeful that she will find love again.

A chatty family friend inspired Bette’s name, and she certainly lives up to it. She chirps, meows, and monologues with absolute charm! Because she prefers to reign as the one-and-only queen of her castle, she needs a home where she is the only pet. Fortunately, she has enough love and purrs to fill two lifetimes.

Cozy beds and long window-watching sessions are two of Bette’s favorite things. She will happily chat with you about her day while relaxing nearby. Whether she is napping in the sun or following you from room to room, she always brings a warm, comforting presence.

Financial Help From Local Animal Lovers

To support animal welfare, Ursula Landsrath founded the Animal Rescue Fund of Virginia in 2008. Her independent organization distributed more than $1 million to Virginia-based rescues. When she became seriously ill in 2017, she had to stop grantmaking operations. Following her passing in January 2019, her husband and close friends created the Ursula Landsrath Animal Rescue Fund. This fund lives within the Community Foundation to ensure her legacy of giving continues to support senior cat dental care.

Local volunteers originally founded the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier in 1999. This dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit accelerates community giving for the common good across local counties and surrounding areas. Since its inception, the foundation has proudly granted more than $20 million to worthy causes.
