Thanks to a $1,500 grant from the Ursula Landsrath Animal Rescue Fund, FOHA’s senior cats can chow down on their favorite crunchy snacks with no worries. The grant came from the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties to support FOHA’s senior cat dental health program.

Dental Care for Senior Cats

One of the senior felines to benefit from this much-needed support is FOHA’s own Bette Boo, a soft, sweet, lovely tabby cat awaiting adoption into her forever home. Bette is a big-hearted, big-voiced, and big-fluff kinda gal. She used to sleep curled up beside her human dad every night, and she loved him with her whole soul. After he passed away, she lost her beloved person, but remains hopeful that she’ll find love again.

Bette was named after a wonderfully chatty friend of the family, and she certainly lives up to her name. She chirps, meows, and monologues with charm! She has always been the queen of her castle, so she prefers a home where she can reign as the one-and-only. She has enough love and purrs for two lifetimes.

Bette adores soft, cozy beds and long window-watching sessions where she can keep an eye on the world. She’ll happily chat with her human about her day while curled up nearby. Whether she’s napping in the sun or following her mom or dad from room to room, she’ll always bring a warm, comforting presence.

Financial Help From Animal Lovers

Ursula Landsrath founded the Animal Rescue Fund of Virginia as an independent organization in 2008, distributing more than $1 million to Virginia-based animal rescue organizations before shutting down grantmaking operations in 2017 when she became seriously ill. Her husband and friends created the Ursula Landsrath Animal Rescue Fund within the Community Foundation at her passing in January 2019 to ensure her grantmaking legacy.

Founded in 1999 by local volunteers, the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit designed to accelerate community giving for common good in Loudoun and northern Fauquier counties, surrounding areas and across the nation. Since its inception, the Community Foundation has granted more than $20 million. Donors who include the Community Foundation in their philanthropic vision benefit from low fees, knowledgeable staff, and personal assurance that legal and accounting issues are managed under one cost-effective banner: the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties.
