Meet Rollo
ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Hey there, I’m Rollo! I’m a handsome shepherd mix with a big brain and an even bigger heart. I’m one of those dogs who knows my stuff: sit, stay (until you say otherwise!), paw, down, come, and find it. I’m a total overachiever when treats are involved.
In foster care, I’ve shown that I’m a loyal, affectionate dog who bonds closely with my people. I love being near them—whether that’s relaxing on the couch, hanging out in the room while they work, or going on adventures together. When playtime’s done, I’m all about cuddles or squeaking my favorite toy while rolling on my back with my paws in the air.
I enjoy getting out for walks and exploring new smells. My nose is always busy! I’m still working on my leash manners and can get a little strong when something exciting catches my attention, but I’m smart and very treat-motivated, so training has been going well.
I’ve lived in a home with children over 10 and did well with them. I’m a gentle boy with the people I trust, though my shepherd instincts mean I take my home and family seriously.
Because of that, I do best in a calm, low-traffic home where visitors are introduced slowly. I can be a little unsure when new people enter my space, so giving me time and space to warm up helps me feel safe and relaxed.
Once I know you, though, I’m incredibly loving and devoted. If you’re looking for a smart, loyal, goofy best friend who forms a deep bond with his people, I might be your guy. 🐾
I’m so excited to meet my potential new family! To make sure we have the best first impression, I’d feel most comfortable meeting new people with one of my friends (a FOHA staff or volunteer) by my side. The best way to set up a successful meet-and-greet is by submitting an application first.
HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
Selective — success will depend on a dog introduction! I’ve enjoyed playful interactions with some dogs, especially easygoing ones.
HOW AM I WITH CATS:
No cats please!
HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
I have lived with children over 10 and done well. Best suited for a family with kids over 10.
I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
Sit, stay (until released), paw, down, come, and find it. I’m also working on “look at me” to help me stay focused during walks. I’m very smart and treat-motivated!
This dog is part of FOHA’s Diamond Dog Program, which means they receive extra training support and guidance to help them succeed in a home.
MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:
House trained and crate trained! I settle nicely in the home and do well with a routine.
THINGS I LIKE:
Long walks, exploring new smells, squeaky toys, treats, cozy couch time with my people, and learning new things.
THINGS I DISLIKE:
Busy, noisy environments, lots of commotion, and unfamiliar people entering my space too quickly.
