Emma

Hello!  My name is Emma and I am all sweetness and light.  I am new to FOHA and already known for my gentle, friendly and affectionate nature.  I was in a home with one adult and through no fault of my own found myself at FOHA.   Actually, my prior owner often had to be away for up to twelve hours a day and felt I deserved a family that was better able to give me the love and attention I need.  I am doing a good job at navigating this new world and hoping everyday for my forever family to find me quickly.  To help that process along, let me tell you a little bit about myself so you can see if I might be a fit for your family!

I am used to spending time indoors and am house and crate trained.  Since coming to FOHA, I am really enjoying it when my new friends take me for walks down the lane and on the trails.  Since I don’t seem to have a lot of prior leash training, or maybe because I  am so darn happy to be out, I tend to pull some on the leash.  I just want to take in as much of the beautiful surroundings and wonderful things to sniff as I can all at once!  

I am treat motivated and always take them gently when offered.  I know “sit”, “stay” and “down” (lay down).  I am a very smart girl who is eager to learn much more.  Recently, I was doing a little loose-leash training with one of my friends here while out on a walk.  I started picking up on that quickly – but training of any kind  takes time, patience and regular reinforcement – something I hope to find with my new family!

While I love humans and have done will with children, I am always ready for a good snuggle, I would like to be the only dog in your heart and in your home. If you already have another dog, it still may work out! But I’d love to be slowly introduced so I can have some time to make a lasting relationship without feeling rushed.
