Meet Brownie

Hi, I’m Brownie!

No one can resist a sweet Brownie like me! And although I do love a sweet treat, what I want more than anything is a home of my own where I know I’ll be safe and loved forever. I hope you’ll be the one to give that to me!

Here are some things you’re going to love about me: I’m quiet but playful, I’m smart (I know my name, “sit,” and “paw”), and I walk nicely on the leash. I’m mostly house trained…with a little more work, I’m sure I can do it! According to my last family, I am very chill around the house. But I did get a little anxious when I was left alone, so I hope my forever family will be around a lot.

I’m working on building my confidence around other dogs. I’ve been on several side-by-side walks with a few other shy dogs down Goodpuppy Lane, and I recently went in the play yard with another dog! Still, I’d prefer to have your undivided attention and to be the only dog. I’d also do best in a home without a cat, as I’m a little too interested in them.

After spending a weekend with one of my favorite FOHA volunteers, I’ve been able to try out living in a home!

I’ve learned how nice it is to have toys of my own! I even preferred playing with toys over food! Although, I’ll never say no to chicken. I even don’t mind if my bowl/food is handled while I’m eating. I’m happy to share. While out exploring the neighborhood, I’m the perfect gentleman and will walk nicely by your side. And with a good routine, I can be quickly house trained!

I also enjoyed some peaceful naps. I’m so used to shelter life, I just curled up by the wall to sleep before I discovered the comfy dog bed set out for me. Man, did I snooze! Since I prefer a quiet house, I promise to do the same, you won’t hear me barking at the neighbors.

I still love toys and I LOVE giving kisses. I sure did enjoy being in a home and feel lucky that my FOHA friend invited me for a weekend sleepover. Now I’m sure I’m ready for my forever family!

PUPDATE:

I was recently adopted, but after 6 months my family had to move and couldn’t take me with them. I was really sad when they took me back to the shelter. After being in a home for a few weeks, I really started feeling comfortable and opening up, showing off all my wonderful qualities. Oh, and my family had a fenced yard, which was great for running around and playing! I especially loved my mom, who told the FOHA staff: “Brownie is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met, and he will bring you so much joy.”

I’m looking for a patient family that has experience with a timid dog. I can’t wait to love you and be loved forever!
