Breed: Hound Mix
Age: 2 years and 8 months
Lee came to FOHA after he was rescued from a hoarding situation in central Virginia where he spent his life outside. Despite his unfortunate past, he is a happy dog who is content spending time with people or going on walks, nose to the ground – in other words, doing what hounds do best! Unlike many hounds though, Lee hasn’t been much of a talker here at the shelter. Lee draws you in with his adorable underbite but it is his calm demeanor and sweet spirit that have quickly made him a staff and volunteer favorite. If you are looking for a mellow companion, Lee might be your guy!
Here are some notes from Lee's foster family:
Lee has been such a good boy so far, and we've really enjoyed having him in our home.
Loves to chew on things -but he knows "no" and has been easily trained to not chew on things he shouldn't.
- Well behaved not gated and alone in the house - he got a little anxious the first day we went to work and didn't want to eat dinner, but he has been just fine since day 2
Medium level of shedding - we're going to try to give him a bath next week and see if that helps at all!
Very well potty trained - Lee has not had any accidents in the house and pees and poops regularly outside. He doesn't really tell us when he has to use the bathroom, but we've been walking him 3-4 times per day
Loves people/wary around animals - During our walks, Lee has been very friendly with people and children. He's a little shy around other dogs and we heard his first bark the other day when he saw a cat! haha
Lovesss attention - Lee LOVES getting belly rubs and scratches as much as we'll give them.Good in the car - he relaxed most of the way from the shelter to DC and only got a little antsy at the tail end
This dog can only be adopted within the Washington D.C. metro area.
