Hi, I'm Murphy. It's nice to meet you – but that said, I'm going to be straight with you. I've had a challenging life, and maybe that will help you understand why I've been known to act out sometimes. I would love to find a home, but it would need to be a special home. First of all, I shouldn't be around kids. Beyond that, it's really hard for me to meet new people in general, and when I do meet someone I don't like, I can get a little triggered and may act in a quite unbecoming way. The long and short of it is this: If I like you, then I really like you. I'm warm, affectionate, fantastic on the leash, and, if I do say so myself, an all-around lovely dog. But – my owners would have to be diligent about keeping me away from new people. If we were to walk in your neighborhood, for example, I could wear a yellow bandana (http://theyellowdogproject.com/About.html), and you would have to be firm about letting people know not to approach me. It would be best if I could be walked somewhere where we weren't likely to encounter a lot of people. I would also do best in a household that doesn't get a lot of visitors where I can spend the majority of my time with people I love and trust. If you want to come out and see if I might be the dog for you, please fill out an application, and when you come out to FOHA, some of my favorite volunteers will talk with you about me and introduce us. I do appreciate your giving me a chance.
I am eligible for FOHA's Senior Dog Program.
